Yes, We Want Your Photos

Thank you for your interest in participating in Townshend’s web site project. In order to fully represent the true scenic nature of our Town we feel that soliciting photos from visitors and residents will provide us with a diversity that would never be achieved by hiring someone to take photos of only the more public spaces.

We are seeking as diverse a group of photos as possible. Seasonal shots are especially welcome, night shots are appropriate, as are photos of the various landmarks in Town. Black and white or color photos are all welcome. Any photo should either be of a location in Townshend or a view from a location in Townshend. Photos of events are welcome however we cannot use photos that contain easily recognizable individuals. (All photos will be reduced in size which will help some in that regard.) The photos need not be of specific scenic areas. If you have a photo that was taken in Townshend and it represents the scenic nature of the Town then please feel free to submit it.

If possible, please identify the photos, IE: “Looking south from Peaked MT.” or “View from Peaked MT.”; “Horse at River Bend Farm”; “Putnam’s sugarhouse in the spring”; etc.

We also welcome individual artwork, paintings and drawings of specific areas in Townshend. The piece must be small enough to be scanned effectively (no more than 8" X 10") and should be created by the individual submitting them. Younger children are definitely encourage to submit their pieces for inclusion. Larger pieces that have already been digitized are also welcome.

Photos and artwork may be dropped off at the Town Hall (please put “web site materials” on the outside of the envelope), mailed to the Select Board, Town of Townshend, PO Box 223, Townshend, VT 05353-0223, or emailed to . Please be sure to include your name, address, phone number and email address.

Scanning will be done as quickly as possible and you will be notified when your prints are ready for return (please allow up to a month). All photos and artwork will be returned, nothing will be harmed in the process.

It must be understood that by submitting photos or artwork you are agreeing to the publication of your submission(s) only on the Townshend Town web site and that there will be no compensation other than appropriate acknowledgement of the owner of the submission(s). In addition, your submission(s), if used, will be used in whole or in part and will likely be digitally manipulated to make them suitable for inclusion in the web site.

This is an open request. We have a substantial amount of space for images and would like to change them from time to time as well.
